A Brief History

By October 1984, a feasibility study was completed about starting a junior college and Chandur was selected for this project. It was inaugurated on 24th July 1985. It is a co-education institute offering History, Economics and commerce as subjects in Telugu medium.

Junior College and Scholarships

Mathematics and Biology were added as subjects. In 2005, the hostel building was extended to accommodate many more poor students.In June 2005, Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education accorded permission to start Don Bosco Junior College with five groups, M.P.C, Bi.P.C, C.E.C., M.E.C., and H.E.C., both in English and Telugu Medium. Apart from developing the college the Chandur the Don Bosco also offers scholarships to the bright students and support them to continue their education.



Give credit to women: The Salesians have federated 53 self Help groups of marginalized women in Chandur Mandal to form a Mutually Aided Co-operative Society (MACS). The MACS is a thrift and credit society Governed by a “board of directors” elected by the members. The society makes credit available to the members in proportion to their savings. This enables the group to organize micro entrepreneurship activity locally and enhance their income. On 31 December 2013, the society has 387 members with total savings of Rs.787500 and a loan component of 1209535.

Drinking Water

The Don Bosco provides pure drinking water to 7 villages around Chandur.
