A Brief History
St. Mary’s High School began with LKG to III class was established in 1999. Later it was upgraded up to VII Class. Gradually it was upgraded to X standard and the first batch of X class students appeared for the public exams in 2007. Finally in the month of May 2009, the school was taken up Don Bosco of Hyderabad Province.
1. English Medium School
The school has students coming from 22 surrounding villages most of whom are from poor families. Therefore the management takes into account the financial status of the students, by adopting fee structures that would suit their family income, at the same time encourages them to give their best in studies. So far four X class batches have passed out the school with good results in board examination.
The local people esteem the school as one of the best educational centers in the locality. The past four SSC batches have graduated faithfully keeping the flag high by securing highest scores in Kollapur Mandal and Taluk. This has given us also recognition in the government circle that our school is chosen as a venue for different Mandal and Taluk level programmes for the schools of the area like fire drill, sports meet, etc.
Besides formal education, the school also gives importance to games and sports. The boys were the champions of Kabaddi organized at Kollapur Taluk level in 2010 and the girls were the runners-up of Kho-kho in the same tournament. The school celebrates all the important national festivals with great attention.
Admission policy in the School:
The school admits all students irrespective of creed, caste or community. As minority institution the school reserves for itself its inherent and constitutionally guaranteed right of management and administration. The school is co-education and follows the state syllabus.
Presently there are about 381 students from LKG to X standard. There are 18 teaching staff and 3 non teaching staff.
2. Boarding for Boys
The students come from different places to the school sometimes it might be too far away and those poor people may not be in a position to afford for the transportation. For such students in particular and for the general the school has provided the boarding facility.
3. Drinking Water
The Don Bosco has a Drinking water plant in Kollapur. As the effect of fluoride is more in that area, they provide de-fluoride drinking water to Kollapur and to 7 near by villages.
4. Tuition Centers and Student scholarships
The Kollapur Don Bosco also supports the students with the scholarship facility for the poor students to study well and continue their education till they attain a degree
