In light of the ongoing environmental crisis, our organization is committed to restoring lost habitat, reducing our carbon emissions, eliminating the use of non-biodegradable materials in our operations and implementing community cleanup programs in rural and urban areas. In recent years we have been involved in undertaking community clean-ups, collecting recyclable materials in our schools and planting trees on our campus. Our organization is looking for partners to undertake such programs long term. In 2021, we were fortunate to have received a grant to install solar panels on all Don Bosco Institutions, the installation of these panels helped reduced our carbon footprint, reduce our dependency on the power grind and reduce our operational expenses in paying for electric bills.

Our organization has been effective in implementing solar energy programs to power charitable institutions and to teach youth and young people the skills to install service and operate solar panels. As part of our commitment towards environmental stewardship.
Solar energy is the most affordable mechanism to generate electricity and is a solution to the ongoing energy crisis. The goal of the solar energy program is to provide solar systems for all the Salesian Institutions in our region and spread community awareness of the need to harness sustainable energy to power institutions, homes and businesses. Our organization with our vendor – Unitech Solar studied the load required to power our institutions based on the electrical bills we had for one year. This study allowed us to install solar panels based on the energy demands of each institution. The solar panels come with a 25-year warranty and excess solar energy generated from the system is sold to the grid.
We have envisioned to plant a million trees. Towards this end, we have already planted 20,000 trees in the present year itself. These are mainly livelihood-oriented, in trying to provide for alternate livelihoods among the rural communities.
In Prakasam district of AP and Nalgonda district of TS, we had taken up water and sanitation programmes for providing good drinking water and ensuring sanitation.
As an environment-conscious institution, we have conducted a waste audit and look forward to an in-house recycling mechanism.
