A Mission Procure coordinates the work of the Salesians of Don Boscos. On Thursday, 28.11.2013, the Salesian Provincialate in Hyderabad witnessed the arrival of two Mission Procures doing yeoman service in the service of Don Bosco - Fr. Clemens Schliermann of Don Bosco Mission, Bonn, Germany and Fr. M. C. George of Bosconet, New Delhi. These two enterprising Salesians visited the Salesian Provincialate, interacted with the resident Fathers and the staff of BSK, the development office and acquainted with the development activities carried out by the Salesian Province in Andhra Pradesh.
The three-day visit of Fr. Clemens Schliermann that began today will continue for the next two days up to Saturday when Fr. Schliermann is scheduled to see for himself the Salesian interventions across a couple of the 23 districts of Andhra Pradesh. Fr. Schliermann who arrived at noon time today at the Hyderabad International Aerodrome from New Delhi was received by Fr. Thomas Santiagu and led to the Don Bosco Provincial House. After exchange of pleasantries, he was quickly made to feel at home.
We organized 2 days training program for the federation leaders from our operational area on 4th and 5th of November in BIRD, Guntur. Fifty two leaders participated and learned about the best practices and book keeping for the Mutually aided cooperative society (MAC).

Fr. Baly spoke about "women participation" in community development. The MAC society offers a wonderful opportunity for women to participate. The MAC society is entirely a women's organization where women can make their contribution to the community. In our own land contemporary woman like Ms. Padmajareddy was able to make a significant contribution to society.
Three staff members from BSK attended a three day (29, 30 and 31 October 2013) workshop on "Asset Based Community Development' at "Balavikas" training Center at Kazipoet, Warangal District. The main resource person was Mr. Shoury Reddy the director of Balavavikas training center. Mr. Chandrashekar, Mr. Job and Mr. Ratnaraju, the three coordinators of BSK participated in the training program.
The training started with a group exercise in which participants discussed in groups about the methods they would adopt if they were assigned a poor slum area for community development work. The groups presented various approaches for designing a development plan for the area. The prominent elements in all these plans was the assessment of the needs of the community, programmes designed to meet the needs and people's participation. This is termed as a need based approach to development.
